OK - new project.
I want to make an arcade style games cabinet, encompossing:
- An xbox (1), 'modded' and fitted with a large HD, or able to stream games over the network.
- An PS2, possibly with hard drive attatchment, fitted with lightguns and possibly guitar hero guitars
- A reasonably-specced, MAME'd up PC, with usual stuff
- A DreamCast, with lightguns
- A Gamecube, with donkey konga bongos
- (possibly) a Sega megadrive
- (possibly) a SNES
All consoles will be switchable to use their native controllers, or the arcade sticks. Some will also be switchable to use lightguns. All will be switchable to the main monitor, which will rotate through 90 degrees (possibly motorized) automatically for different aspect ratio arcade games. The PC should use an IR or RF remote control and act as a media center, also having a composite output wired to the projector. There'll be a network segment inside the cabinet, routed out via the PC (I dont like the idea of having things like the DC open to the sometimes-hostile network).
I'm intending to keep a diary of how I go about making it and how long it takes. here. :D
Any thoughts or comments, feel free to, uh, comment. I'll be uploading sketches of how it might look later. :)
